PaintMIXER for PSP

Posted on 01:09 by Unknown

PaintMIXER by developer Gefa is a homebrew application for the PSP. This is great for the artsy type of person, who enjoy a good drawing board on the go.

Latest version at this time is 2.3.0. If you have ever used Window's Microsoft Paint (MS Paint), then you will be familiar to this application as it is a clone of it.

Personally I have not tried it, although I am an artist and use many graphical softwares on my computer. I am thinking about installing this to my PSP and adding my experience to this post.

In the meantime I love to hear comments from those who have tried it, or know of other graphical design applications to the PSP, reply by commenting this post. thanks :)

PSP Touch Screen

Posted on 00:26 by Unknown

How many of us PSP owners would like the Touch Screen feature on our PSP? Should Sony work on something like that, and would the idea improve the PSP, and sell more consoles than it already has?

I think it is not such a good idea; I personally would not be interested in Touch Screen PSP. It’s ok for the DS, but not PSP. In the other hand, If Sony wants to improve even more the PSP, they should be working on improving the 3D graphics, and get it to look like PS3 graphics, or close. Maybe I’m asking too much for a handheld device, but anything is possible in this life, right? Any who, what do you all think?

NBA 09: The Inside for PSP Preview

Posted on 10:33 by Unknown

Are you a basketball type of person? Well, why not take your basketball game wherever you go with NBA 09: The Inside for Playstation Portable (PSP). The one thing keeping us from going to the local game store and buying this sports title is the fact that it is not currently available for sale yet. Haha! But it soon will in North America on October 1st, 2008 to be exact.

NBA 09: The Inside promises excellent basketball simulation with a touch of arcade play. Downloadable content to keep up-to-date roster is a great feature that will void outdated info. This game is also loaded with mini games and a great NBA experience. We will see if it lives up to these statements when it’s released.

If you are like me, I would check NBA 09: The Inside for PSP. Interesting enough I got sold on the sneak screen shots I found over on the internet. Published by SCEA and developed by very close to home SCEA San Diego.

Valhalla Knights 2 Preview

Posted on 12:16 by Unknown

Dungeon crawling, monster fighting Valhalla Knights was released about a year ago. I did get to play this title and loved it. I especially liked the real time action combat. The approximate time this game took to complete was around 40 hours, yes, kinda a week worth of work, huh?

Valhalla Knights 2 is soon to be released in the U.S for the PSP, and I can’t wait to get my hands on it. haha!! It is schedule to be released on September 23, 08.

There is something that kinda bugs me on most Role Playing Games, as you walk around, all of the sudden you need to battle enemies. I am not big on random battles. I mean, its fine, sometimes, but not most of the times; for me it’s a little annoying. The good thing in Valhalla Knights was the fact that there are no random battles here; you can actually see your enemy before fighting them, although sometimes unavoidable hehe, but its better that way.

Valhalla Knights 2 also promises a bigger world to explore, up to six characters at your party for battling game enemies or your PSP friend via ad hoc. This packs around 80 hours of play doing the story mode. Wow, it is a real full time job, hehe!!

WWE Smackdown Vs Raw 2009 Preview

Posted on 13:57 by Unknown

WWE Smackdown Vs. Raw 2009 will be soon be released by fall this year. It is an awaited titled for a lot of gamers. 2008 is not over yet, but this game promises some cool features WWE Smackdown Vs. Raw 2008 did not have. For example, the tag team match ups are upgraded where now momentum can be acquired and easy do double-team attacks and finish moves.

Another feature that got my attention doing research on this game is the Online feature ability. Seems that WWE Smackdown Vs. Raw 2009 will be able to have an internet download feature, where it will keep up with the story that is currently happening on the TV Shows and update to current character roster. The Online features are included for PS3, Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii versions, but I am not sure about PSP version. We will need to wait and see.

Earthworm Jim PSP is cancelled

Posted on 15:21 by Unknown

Who here remembers Earthworm Jim on the SNES? It was truly a good game in its time, fun action adventure and neat animation graphics. I remember playing this game with my little brother, back in the days when SNES was kinda the best gaming system available or so I thought.

I have played countless games in the past, but only remember the titles of the ones I have really liked; Earthworm Jim was one of them. When I first heard this was coming to the PSP I was exited because I would have loved it to be on my PSP.

But what happened??? It got cancelled? I can hardly believe that Atari (a big game developer company) would be in financial trouble, thus the reason they have said to have this game currently on hold after it was 80 percent complete. I never played other Earthworm Jim titles but on the SNES version with only 2D graphics, and I was anxious to see this game in 3D graphic style. Hopefully in the end, it will be released, because 80 % of finished work and suddenly dumped is just a waste I think.

PSP 3000? Really?

Posted on 17:36 by Unknown

PSP have evolved. It began as PSP 1000 when it first came out, then the slim 2000. Now it is only a matter of time when a PSP 3000 will arrive. Or so many people are already speculating. The buzz is getting bigger every day, but only Sony has the real answer. This rumor had started over an image found on the official Sony website containing the PSP 3000 logo on it. The image is now removed, and as to a release date, Sony has said nothing yet.

So, what is the good word of this new PSP 3000 model?

Well, it is said not to have much difference from the 2000 series, but it will have a microphone incorporated and looks like the home button will have the Playstation logo instead. Well, that is all what I have gathered so far from my search, but perhaps there is still more. I will keep this post updated.

Tired of hearing your own mp3s? The radio is another good source to listen to a variety of other music, plus not just music, news and other stuff they produce on radio stations these days.

PSP: Spectral Souls Review

Posted on 19:29 by Unknown

Spectral Souls is another of many strategy role playing games for the PSP. This title got my interest, and wanted to see what it was about. The story takes place somewhere called Neverland (not Peter Pan related) where humans and demons collide. The demons govern the world, but humans fight to free themselves of the nasty demon overlords. That is where you/I come in as the game is viewed.

I have not finished playing this game, and doubt I will want to. See, there are just some things that bother me about the battle system. Not that it got complicated, but really too monotonous for me, and I know they could have done better in the graphic department. I am not so new to the RPG genre. I have gotten stuck on certain parts of the story before, but not this quickly in the game of Spectral Souls. Nevertheless I will try to give it a go once more, hoping that the story, and/or other elements of the game gets more interesting.

I am always interested in great strategy Role Playing games. Final Fantasy Tactics is at the top of my list when it comes to comparison. The only thing I can say is that I have only played a handful of these types of games. Any good recommendations on great Strategy RPG titles for the PSP are very much welcome. Please comment-reply. ^_^

Final Fantasy Tactics is a Role Playing Strategy game. Originally release in 1997 for the PSOne console. Now the recent released for the PSP includes all the great game play of the original plus some new extra features, new character jobs, and beautiful rendered cut scenes.

The story begins with Ramza, the main character and his friend Delita. The story partly deals with the quarrel between commoners and nobles.

PSP: Guitarway To Heaven 4 Amplified Review PSP Gameplay

Posted on 16:36 by Unknown

Guitarway To Heaven 4 Amplified is Kinda like guitar hero homebrew style for the PSP, and you know it’s got great music on it. I love this game, really entertaining; I am not a pro as you can see on the first video, so I chose a simple easy song (Another one bites the dust from Queen).

The object of the game is really to keep up with rhythm and press the buttons accordingly to its perspective color and timing. The good thing is that we have both hands and you can use the directional pad to help you when you need to press more than one button at a time.

The list of songs is a big one; you will definitely find some tunes you like. “Metallica-fade to black” is one of my personal favorite. There is easy, medium, hard, extreme, and songs with various difficulty levels, but most are still hard for me. The way I see the game operates and the thing to remember is that you really have to play the same song over and over to become good at it. The graphics are awesome; I recommend this game to all music video game players. Rock on!!

Here is me playing Fade To Black from Metallica. Do not be alarm, almost at the end it seems that an earthquake had just hit, but it is actually me pressing all the buttons like crazy. It is really hard to keep up with that much speed so that was my best strategy lol!!. enjoy :D

Here is me playing Paramore's Crush crush crush. Yes, it might seem a simple and easy to do, but I just love this song. hehe!

Once again it is me playing Rage Against The Machine - Killing In The Name Of. This song is great, and excellent to be played on PSP Guitarway To Heaven. It is just a personal favorite.

Phantasy Star Portable For The PSP

Posted on 13:27 by Unknown

As until a few days ago, I did not know anything about Phantasy Star Portable. I spend a lot of time online, but I only play mini games when on my computer. I am also kinda new to the multiplayer mode, meaning I don’t usually play with other people online. This game got my interest, and wanted to do a little bit of research on it.

It’s a Role Playing Game, developed by SEGA, originally for the Dreamcast System a few years ago. Since then, sequels, episodes titles have been created for different gaming systems.

Phantasy Star Portable will be exclusively for the PSP as I hear. This RPG is definitely one to check out, whenever Sony decides to release it for the U.S. It will be release by the end of this month (July 2008) in Japan, but Demos of Phantasy Star Portable could be accessed to anyone outside Japan. The following video trailer is amazing, and the graphics are top notch. I just hope it won’t be long till the U.S. release.

PSP VS Nintendo DS (battle of the handhelds)

Posted on 13:48 by Unknown

Which handheld is better, the PSP or the DS? I can only give you my opinion, having both the PSP and the DS systems, I choose PSP. Here is my top the reason why: The PSP is not only a gaming system. It is really an excellent media player too. I love watching movies, listening to music, downloading, saving and viewing pictures from the internet among many other functions that only the PSP can do.

The PSP got a rough start selling worldwide than the DS. I think most of it was due because of the price sticker on it. Yes, it’s more expensive than buying the DS. It is true when they say “you get what you pay for” because I can do way more stuff on the PSP than on the DS. The DS is really good at games, I will give you that, but that is it; nothing else. Searching for what is better now PSP or DS, you will actually see that the PSP is now taking in more customers than any other popular gaming system today. This is really true, believe me, I did the research. When DS has nothing planned for the future, but just coming up with games or even great games at that, the PSP is doing the same, plus coming up with great innovative ad-ons accessories like GO! Cam, and Sony PSP 1-Seg digital TV Turner just to name some.

The above chart is accurate in Japan and I do believe it should not have much difference from that of the rest of the world chart. It is current as of May 2008. More here!

Which Portable is best for you? DS or PSP? Comment-reply.

Samurai Showdown Anthology For PSP (late this year 2008)

Posted on 02:32 by Unknown

Samurai Showdown Anthology, the collection of the Samurai Showdown franchise packed in a single game will be released later in this year (2008) for many video game consoles including our great PSP. My guess is late October, or early November, but I read somewhere it will be out in the 4th quarter 2008. There will be 7 games included here: Samurai Showdown (original), SS2, SS3, SS4, SS5, SS5 Especial Edition, and SS6.

Now, I will probably not buy this game, even though, I am a really a huge fan of all the Samurai Showdown series. Why? Because I do have my NEO GEO Emulator set up on my PSP, and I can play these games whenever I feel like it. See my post and video here!!

On the other hand I do recommend this game for fans that do not have Homebrew on their PSP. I can understand that Homebrew is not for everyone. The reason I think that way is because I know PSP game developers need to get paid too for their hard work too. Otherwise it would not be fair; thus the need for the UMD buyers. Hopefully that made sense. If not, then my English really needs work, as much my game addiction. Haha!! :D

GO! Cam

Posted on 10:37 by Unknown
PSP Go Cam turns the PSP into a digital camera. Yet another function for the PSP and one more reason the PSP is one unique do it all device. This is not new technology thou, it was released in Japan on 2006, with the name Chotto Shot (Quick Shot), and in Europe since May 2007. Rumors has it will be also be available in the U.S. Sometime this year 2008. That is to be announced.

The functions will have more features than just your typical digital camera. Not only will you be able to take pictures and record video, but also edit them, and with Wi-Fi, send saved files straight to the internet. With a 4GB memory card, you will have much space for all the pictures you want to take, and up to 2.5 hours of video, Isn’t that great!! I just hope Sony Entertainment of America would hurry up, and release this great invention for the PSP.

PSP "Martial Arts: Capoeira" Soon To Be Released In The U.S.

Posted on 03:06 by Unknown

Martial Arts: Capoeira Fighters is a soon to be expected game for the PSP and other consoles. As I was doing research on it, could not find a specific date it will be released, but resources claimed to be in February 2009.

This game of course falls in the fighting genre. I consider myself a fighting game player, even thou I am not too good as some guys, I have seen at the arcades (they beat me up :( ). I was searching for some pics of the game, but cannot be certain that these images are legit though; none of the gaming sites I visited would have a box-art with the PSP logo on it. Nevertheless, I have a hunch they are the real game shots here.

Martial Arts: Capoeira looks pretty good to me. The first thing that came to my mind when I saw this was Tekken fighters Christie Monteiro and Eddie Gordo. They have a capoeira style of fighting and it seems more like a dance than fighting, but very good artsy style nonetheless.

Well, I hope this game plays as good as it looks and we will see how great the game developers (Twelve Interactive) are. Yea, another thing “Twelve Interactive”, never heard of these guys before, have you? As long as the game is great, who cares!!

My Top 7 PSP Accessories Essentials

Posted on 15:01 by Unknown

UMD games, do not count as Accessories so I left them out in the list. The PSP battery usually comes together when buying the PSP and it is an Accessory I also left out on the list. The following list is what I consider very important to have for your PSP, and no PSP owner should be without.

  1. PSP Battery Charger- It is not good if you can only use the PSP till your battery runs out which would probably be around 2 hours. This is very essential to the PSP system. Get It Here!

  1. PSP Memory Stick- Be 1 GB, 2 GB, 4 GB or 8 GB, you can never have enough memory to store games, saves, videos, pics, and other stuff. This is a very essential accessory to the PSP too. Get It Here!

  1. PSP Ear Phones- no sound for everyone, just for you. Get It Here!

  1. PSP To PC Data Transfer Cable- need to transfer your mp3 files from your computer to your PSP; this is the way, but not limited to mp3 files. All kinds of files can be transferred to the PSP with this cable. I think videos (mp4) and pictures (jpegs and other formats), are the most common. Get It Here!

  1. PSP Protection Case- the last thing you want to do is accidentally drop the PSP on the concrete floor without protection. It is not worth breaking it. The PSP is not a cheap toy. Being extra careful and protect it at all times can save you money! Get It Here!

  1. PSP Screen Protection- This is good against scratches and some other elements that could damage the PSP screen. Keep it always protected and scratch free! Get It Here!

  1. PSP Pandora Battery W/ Magic Memory Stick- So you wanted to install a new cool application on the PSP, so you transferred the file from your PC to the PSP. Running the application got your PSP all messed up and bricked (not working properly). Now what do you do? The Pandora Battery + Magic Memory Stick can unbrick 99% of all PSP versions and firmwares. I add this one just in case your PSP gets bricked! It’s good to be on the safe side. Get It Here!

These items are all important to me as a PSP owner, I numbered them 1 to 7, but they are not on any specific order. Please comment or suggest anything that might help the list, thanks.

Do you want to watch TV on your PSP?

Posted on 01:50 by Unknown
There are two ways that I found out you can watch TV from your PSP. One is with “Location Free Player” and two is with TVUPlayer on PSP. How do these work?

Location Free Player will act as a server. You need to buy this unit to hook it up to your home portal/router and cable. After that is done and ready to go, then you need to configure the setting on Location Free Player on your PSP, under Network menu. I think this is the best choice to watch TV anywhere you have your PSP, and have Wi-fi access.

For TVUPlayer to work on the PSP, you will need to install some software on your computer and one in your PSP with Homebrew enable. (Hacked PSP). You need a VLC Player, TVUPlayer computer application, and PMPVLC009 for the PSP. What this basically will do is stream TV channels from internet to your computer, and then stream from computer to PSP. Please Check Out This Site For More Detailed Explanation .

HOLD IT!!! this post is not yet over. I know another and more practical way to watch TV on the PSP. This way is by just adapting a TV Turner called: “Sony PSP 1-Seg digital TV Turner” (compatible with PSP Slim Only) One small thing though, these are only available in Japan as I hear, but can someone else who is not in Japan get it, even if its pirated? Maybe, Ha!

Hopefully Sony won’t leave the rest of the world behind, with this great gadget. It would be great if it was also launched in the United States too. I for one would buy this for my PSP without a second thought. Yet another function that would plus the PSP over any other handheld device in the world.

Comments? suggestions? welcome!! ^_^
