The PSPs capable of running Homebrew, are able to emulate these game consoles. It really is amazing to be able to play all the games created for these systems. I did not get to play most of the games from the original consoles listed here. I did however own a few systems. This list, I would say, is rather limited because now it has expanded. The emulators are:
Amiga
Atari 2600
Atari 5200
Atari 7800
Atari Jaguar
Atari Lynx
ColecoVision
CPC
Game Gear
Intellivision
MO5
MAME
Master System
MSX 1
MSX 2
MTX
NeoGeo
NeoGeo CD
NeoGeo Pocket
Nintendo
Nintendo 64
Oric
Playstation one
PCE
Raine
Sam Coupe
Sega Genesis
Sega CD
Super Nintendo
Tandy Color
Vectrex
Virtual Boy
Watara
Wonderswan
My personal top 4 are:
Nintendo Entertainment System (NES)
I pick this one because it is my very first video game system. No one that is in the video game world at the time in my life could forget Mario Bros. Other titles of my own personal taste were: The legend of Zelda, Bionic Commando, Mega Man, Techmo Bowl, Castlevania, Contra, Renegade, Paper Boy, Ninja Gaiden, just to name a few. I did play so many that I forgot some names of not so popular games too.
Sega Genesis
This was my second system of all time. I got very entertained with these huge titles: Alex kid, Altered Beast, Sonic the Hedgehog, Kid Chameleon, Golden Axe, and many others. This system did replace my NES system in the way that I gave it more attention. I would rather play Genesis games than NES games.
Super Nintendo (SNES)
Excellent games in this console. I did get to play lots of games with this system. I had a membership at a local video store, so I would rent SNES games on a weekly basis. I thought I had tried all kinds of video games at this point: Action, adventure, sports, puzzle, driving, fighting, and strategy games. I never got into a game like I did when Chrono Trigger came out from Squaresoft. It is a Role Playing Game. It is the first game that made me like RPG games. I will always remember this system for that.
Neo Geo
I know a lot of Neo Geo games, not because I had the system at home. I never bought it, but the arcades are full of those games. Yes, besides having my systems at home, sometimes I would have the need to go to the local arcade and play. From Fatal Fury to the newest King of Fighters edition, (All in the fighting genre) I have had a chance get it on. Samurai Showdown 1 and 2 are some of my preferred games to play up to date.
In conclusion; for people who are old gamers like me, having a PSP can definitely be the best experience in gaming. You get to play the latest and greatest of today’s games plus get a chance to play that old game you used to love and can never forget. PSP is portable to take anywhere.
Installing the latest custom firmware can make your PSP do emulations, plus play the latest UMD games from your memory card.
